I believe your web site even mentions this problem. These postings also indicate that Leica has no idea of the cause or why this happens. I purchased a TE that had an etching on the rear element. Called Leica, they said could not be repaired sent the lens back. Then when I bought the other TE, I had 10 days to return it. I sent it to Leica overnight. They examined it, gave me the all OK and overnighted it back to me. In recall that there was no official explanation from Leica on this problem. I do not know the source of the info supplied by the LUG and LEG members. I am sure if you check the the archives and identify these people, you could ask them. I feel sure you saw some of the posts but I do not recall if you questioned the source at the time. The info about the glue indicated Leica changed the glue when they returned to Germany. I guess, looking back, everything was hearsay. Just like all the posts are on the LUG. Was there some reason you are raising the question at this time? Please advise. I guess all knowledge is second hand except OJT Stephen Gandy wrote: >Hi Bill, > >Could you give all the details possible about the glue sometimes causing the >etching on the rear elements of the Canadian TE? > >with all their personnel changes over the years, today's Leica company >apparently has no memory of the matter, nor of its cause. > >I have seen the TE etching problem about six times, but was always left >speculating about the cause. > >who was the source of your info at Leica at the time? > >Thanks > >Stephen Gandy > >Bill Satterfield wrote: > >> I have one of the the last production runs of the TE.
