However, I found that I hardly ever shot wide open on the nikkors ( f2.8 and 1.4), because, especially with the 35, they weren't that good. The zoom is. And, at 35, where it really is a bit slow, and if I need the speed, I use my M6 and 35 asph 'lux. That lens really is fully usable wide open. I reckon that this is nearly a perfect combination.. missing the nikkors closer focus is about the only trade off.
