I think that it would be an interesting experiment to try a PC/hot shoe adapter and then one of the flashes that has a strobe effect. Set the strobe for something like 25 flashes/sec and then use an incident meter to get some sort of beginning aperture. Grab the M3, use the M plug and see what happens.
