If you are NOT going to do macro or extreme telephoto, and you want the maximum focusing aid for your focal lengths, your best bet is to get an R screen (not R4) of the universal type. If all that split image pattern is visually disturbing to you, then the microprism screen may be the thing. The R screens are said to be somewhat brighter than the R4 type and are compatible with the R4's. Needless to say, you might explore the idea that you may need some help with diopter correction for your 40+ vision---and a hearty welcome to the club :-) Julian Regards.........Julian - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim McIntyre" <mcintyre@ca.inter.net> To: <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2003 9:35 PM Subject: [Leica] Focussing screen for R4 query This is my first post to the listserve. Hopefully it works! I am looking for a new focussing screen for my R4. I currently have a plain screen, but I guess my 40+ year old eyes are not what they used to be, and I am having a challege focussing in low light. If anyone has any suggestions as to where to find a better screen, perhaps a Universal Screen (with the split prism) or another suggestion, I'd certainly appreciate it. I have a 35 f2.8, 50 f2.0 and a 90 f2.0 Thanks, Jim mcintyre@ca.inter.net - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
