Ernie, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you don't understand that many people, even today, are sensitive about the politics of the Spanish Civil War. The reason is that their parents or relatives were persecuted relentlessly by Joseph McCarthy and his crowd for going over to Spain and acting as ambulance drivers and so on for the forces fighting the fascists in Spain. There isn't really any question as to who were the "good guys" and who were the "bad guys". The fact is that the fascist government was an ally of the Hitler and the German Nazis. Without Hitler's help, the fascists would never have prevailed.
