I don't like the color in the color shot (too pink),
but find the B&W too contrasty (blocked shadow, blown highlights).
Other than that, the monotonicity (??) makes it that the color
is not distracting and works well with this image.
Answer to your question: I prefer the color version.

here is the Kodachrome, taken about 10 minutes earlier. I rushed 
through the rest of this film, so that I could get the b/w image:
