I tried removing all of the hills in the background and it was just a little too abstract for my taste, but I know what you mean Doug - they provide a context but also some distraction. As for the lack of detail, it is my flatbed scanner that I blame - it's hard to get a sharp scan from that thing. The negs are very sharp, though overall I am not really WOW'd by the new Kodak HD film. I think I was shooting at f11 and 1/750 so the water has no blur.
