I must object. A yellow crookneck is NOTHING like a zucchini. In fact,
Southern folks do not like zucchini, as it has very little taste. I'd never
seen one until I was nearly 20 years old. Nope, the yellow kind, fresh and
tender, steamed just right, is the ticket. No beating any of those little
yellow jewels to death! Remember, beta-carotene!

Take squash as a noun, treat it as a verb and try not to slip on it 
as you step over it. If it still tries to get up, beat it with a 
zucchini and leave them both to rot as you try to find something fit 
to eat.

Like herring.

Preferably pickled.
