The answer is of course there is a difference. Single Malts have very distinct characteristics. They all taste different, some are Peaty (smokey) some taste like the ocean. (Oban) Blended whiskeys are good if you want consistent results. A Jonny Walker Blue will always taste the same, thats why you pay the big $$ for it.
