Yes but you can surely use the lens _with_ eyes, the 50mm frame would 
be engaged but the eyes would give it the same field of view through it 
as a 35, just as on a M3. Reduced magnification but a useable solution 
- - as long as you do _not_ remove the eyes.
I haven't tried it but I can not see why it would not work from a 
technical point of view. The loss of focussing accuracy would be 
negligible for a 35mm lens.
