She was born in Budapest and in 1930 moved to Berlin. Already two years later when Hitler came in sight she moved to Holland where she lived until her death. Looking back she says that in these two years, in full freedom, in Berlin she made her best photographs. She is famous because she was one of the first street/documentary photographers. Later she photographed(among other subjects) the Dutch woman rights movement. We lost a great person and a great photographer.
