[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]I'm one of the most self-deprecating people around and I could be wrong, but it seems we are in disagreement over language. In reality, all contributers to this thread may be closer than we think. I'll explain; while in a dictatorial or tyrannical state a lone lone individual and/or his cadre can deem something to be inappropriate for public consumption, when this occurs within a "free-market" democratic system it is simply an editorial decision. What if one accepts that within a system such as ours, where a class of individuals (no I'm not a Marxist, really) has virtually the same world view and hence stakes and motivations as those in power? I'm sure you all know that Anampour is married to that hack Rubin. Dan, Peter and Tom all lunch and cocktail with the powers that be. When was the last time you saw any of the Henry K. about Pinochet or Indonesia. . .hell he's an expert on current international affairs. Has the above mentioned cadre that usually surrounds a personality become so large as to be omni-present and accepted as legitimate? Additionally, within a system so utterly controlled, at least in respect to mass distribution of images, by corporate forces (who have their own interests, much the same as those within the govt)isn't the decision not to run an image by AP (as per Sonny's post) tantamount to censorship? I don't have the answers but find the questions important. Oh yes, to stay somewhat on subject, I'd really like a cheap M6, where can I get the best deal on one new?
