And a humongous large one at that...Okay...IF the images were BETTER than those produced by a Digital Rebel (I say better, because the Rebel offers interchangeable lenses) and IF it's shutter lag, and image write speed are comparable with that camera's, and IF it's built to take a moderate beating and is well sealed against the elements - THEN it might make sense, if for no other reason than it has a relatively fast lens throughout it's zoom range and it offers the advantage of not having to worry about getting gunk on the CCD. But those are allot of very important Ifs, and I think I know the answer to each of them. B. (Well, maybe > it's not.) And for $1800 US for a point-and-shoot they should damn > well look sharp. ;-)<< Hi B.D., I'm sure by now you've seen the flurry of posts this morning on adapters for R lenses to Canon digi cams as well as the posted Digi 2 snaps of two frames. The images look good, but I'm from the old school of show me how well it works on real subjects and not two guys standing in soft light without shadows! But no matter how good they look, if the retail price in the USA is about $1800-$1900 mark, Canada probably higher!! I find it hard to believe they'll touch the digi markets of Canon and others. Possibly Leica doesn't care, as we know the M camera is a niche market item, so maybe the Digilux 2 is seen in similar fashion and that's what they're aiming at. We'll know when the big announcements appear during the next couple of months. Quite frankly the digi 2 will have to be a "wonder camera" to beat the Canon G5 I've been playing with. I realize that's a heretic comment and I maybe burned in Leica's hell fires, but sometimes the truth hurts! ted - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
