Silver B&W and negative color film enlarged into fiber or RC Ilford MG4 and Kodak RA4 papers via a LPL 4500 enlarger using Nikon, Schneider and Rodenstock enlarging lenses. Film (both silver and C41) gets processed on a Jobo CPE-2 with Lift. Paper gets processed either on a Nova Quad 12x16 vertical processor or on a Nova Monochrome 12x16 vertical tank. RA4 is being rapidly being replaced by digital printing. Digital and hybrid: 50%. Scanning 35mm on a Minolta DSE-5400 and 6x6/4x5 on an Epson Photo 2450, to be replaced by the coming 4000 scanner as soon as they become available this side of the pond. Also doing some pure digital with a Minolta DiMAGE 7i. Printing up to13x19 on an Epson 2200 on Ilford Gallery Smooth Pearl, Epson Enhanced Matte and Paterson Fine Art. Digital capture of color negatives and printing has virtually replaced wet RA4 process. The purity of color is simply on another level, unavailable to RA4 papers. I have started experimenting on the reverse; creating digitally enlarged negatives for contact printing on silver and platinum. This allows for a level of precision in dodging and burning as well as contrast control that is unheard of in the traditional darkroom, even for advanced printers like myself (modesty apart), not a stranger to the techniques of split contrast printing.
