Subject: [Leica] what makes '70s color.. 70's color?

recent New Yorker 'Goings On About Town' section highlighted a work from a
show titled "Seventies Color Photography". One look at the photo (p. 12),
and forgetting costume and accessories, the look is still just so..well..
'70s.

Why? What is going on with the color balance that creates this effect?
