The 50 summicron is generally the same as the M of the same vintage. The 19, 100 and 280 I have the more recent look nut the 400 and 560 f6.8 are fantastic, have slight curvature of field - but that doesn't matter for 3-D subjects with a reflex and are beautifully sharp in the centre with lovely boke. I only use mine wide open. hope this helps - I love the R as well as the M, but not as much.
