Certainly the longer APO lenses are as good as any and better than most; but others offer diffraction limited lenses. However, you asked about signature so, starting at the wide end: 15mm, almost rectilinear and sharp to the edges down a stop 19mm, almost rectilinear and sharp to the edges with almost no flare 28mm, really good, as good as the M. Sharp to the edges down a stop 50mm either one. The Summicron is very much like the M and the Summilux is really clean at 1.4 80mm, just like the 75 in the M. 180 Summicron, stunningly sharp at F2 with no DOF 400 and 560 Telyt, sharp in the center with field curvature that helps throw the background OOF even if it is in the same plane. All of the above lenses will produce images that are almost impossible to duplicate with any other system. In the M- series I know of a few lenses that have a ...'signature' look. the nocti, the 75mm, the 35mm pre-asph summicron. What lenses in the R series have a signature look? answers off list fine as well.
