Expanding on this idea a bit - the concept could be incorporated into the camera's image processing software.  The properties of the camera's sensor would be known, and if the lens' properties are available to the software, the image can be cleaned up w/o the photoshop step.  IIRC the Olympus E-1 does some of this kind of stuff - and maybe the ROM stuff on R lenses will actually be useful with the digital R back.
