The properties of the camera's sensor would be known, and if the lens' properties are available to the software, the image can be cleaned up w/o the photoshop step. IIRC the Olympus E-1 does some of this kind of stuff - and maybe the ROM stuff on R lenses will actually be useful with the digital R back.
