When I read the announcement several days ago, I must admit that the coincidence had me wondering to myself. But if selling Euro 15M bonds to finance the project is a problem, why not ask loyal owners to help solve it? Why not offer a Euro 3K bond to each and every Leica M owner, convertible at some point to either Leica Camera AG shares or a "investors' edition" digital M body? That way, those who prefer to own equity can satisfy that need, and those who want a special digital M can have theirs, too. HPC, are you listening? REMEMBER THAT THERE IS NO CAMERA! There are just plans to develop a digital M contingent on Leica's ability to sell 15 million Euros worth of bonds. Since many Leica stockholders are avid photographers, the proposal for the digital M may just have been sugar to make the bitter medicine go down. I hope I'm wrong.
