On one hand the wet print is beautiful standing on it's own. Then so is the Epson print pretty damn good standing on it's own. But the comparison difficulty comes when standing beside each other, it's like making a decision between chocolate and white cake, particularly when one loves cake of any colour and taste. ;-) The hard nose fact is the ability to produce both for quality. On the one setting up trays, mixing solutions, handling prints during processing and finally clean-up and spotting. Then put that against, switch-on, power-up, paper inserted to printer, hit print button, walk away!! Do something else, even if for a moment of eyes closed relaxation. And truly that's becoming so easy with successful print results on 13 X 19 beautiful fine art papers, why wouldn't we just abandon the wet dark room and move into the new century of photographic realities? At no time did I ever think I'd say that. :-) However, after some very serious printing, over 100 prints, (don't even mention ink costs) :-( with the 2200 on Epson Velvet Fine Art paper photo size 12 X 18 on 13X19 paper the quality is amazing. I'm becoming convinced my wet darkroom is near it's end for printing and future use will be relegated to film processing only. Time will tell. However, digital camera use? ;-) But like you I have this " love to have film in hand thing" compared to electronic thingies inside a little card that I can neither see nor feel until another electronic thing retrieves them for my pleasure. Or exasperation! ;-) But without question printers and digital cameras are creating a whole new world of photography capturing and printing, but not necessarily better photographers. > I hope to see you in October at your seminar.<<<< Wonderful! Looking forward to that recognition hand shake! :-) It's going to be a smashing good one this year being the final presentation of the "Leica Seminar" of the past twenty years. There are a number of LUG-LEG members already enrolled so it's a good opportunity to put faces to names, always a neat experience. :-) See you there. ted - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
