I never knew there were Leicaphiles in my part of the world. Ric: the R&C is a classic and I have a few photos of the place somewhere in my endless mine of negatives and I know all about the Cypress Grill (a seasonal restaurant located on the Roanoke River that is only open for six weeks or so in the spring during herring season) and Bill's Hot Dogs...wow...used to dock my boat at the town dock and run over to Bills for a sack of dogs for lunch....and the chili is hot and great! My family's house is on the other side of Bath on the north side of the Pamlico River at Pamlico Beach near Belhaven. My grandfather built it in 1950 and now my father owns it. During summer fun, there's over 20 kids, grandkids, and parents packed into the place. Now, we're elevating it and moving it back from the river aways plus installing HVAC, a second bath, and a bunch of other contemporary amenities. With two small kids myself, it's the perfect place for the kids during the summer. When I travel down to my home in Martin County, we exit I95 at Halifax and take Highway 125 through the country (and Scotland Neck) through Palmyra, Hamilton, and home (which is actually in a very small, very ancient railroad town named Everetts....if anyone knows about Everetts, I'll be totally blown away!). Matter of fact....if the weather cooperates, I just might load up the Leica, pack a few clothes and head down on my BMW cycle next Friday or Saturday just to see the progress on the house! sdp35 wrote: > > On Feb 29, 2004, at 3:12 PM, Ric Carter wrote: > >> >> Just what is the Tarheel head count here anyway? >> >> Hell, yea, I know the Sunnyside, although it just isn't the same >> since getting renovated.
