Looking at actual results under controlled conditions, the Digilux II
looked better at 16X20 than the Olympus E1.  At 16X20 the II looked
better than the 5060 or the 8080? ( 8MP Olympus P&S ) at 11X14 during
the DIMA shoot out.  So if image quality is why you are looking at non
DSLR's then the Panasonic and Leica offerings should still be on the
table of consideration.

Other factors including size, ergonomics, and price of course still come
into play.

Just to be clear (and correct), your statement should read: "slightly
ahead of the Panasonic". The digi2 wasn't tested (will be next month)
but
they did give the reader a comparison between the Panasonic and the
Digilux 2 (the bundled software).

Now, I doubt that the extra price tag will necessarily give it the edge
over the Panasonic and thus the Olympus :)
