They might remove one on the digital model, or maybe not. Then, the digital sensor typically has quite an optical sandwich in front of it. The sum of these items might well cause the 50 Elmar to touch the shutter. It seems fairly clear from the list of other lenses (SA, first 28 Elmarit, etc) that this is the reason. The only thing that all these lenses have in common is that they come very close to the Leica cloth shutter, which is located much further back than the RD-1 shutter will be. - -- * Henning J.
