The news media was abuzz with hype about the long lines and crowds. You know I had to drop by. This is the first person in line about thirty minutes before the start of the signing. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/votefirstinline It turns out that everyone had a wrist band with their place in line engraved. The signing would go on for two hours, one book per customer, purchased prior to the signing at that shop, ten seconds to say hello and have your book personalized. The second image is a glimpse of the activities of the crowd. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/votekerryII The next several images give you a flavor of the crowd, some enthusiastic, some just resigned to wait. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/voteplayitagain http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/voteholdingmylife Of course, the author is an ex-president so security was around. The bomb sniffing dog cleared the store about thirty minutes before the signing. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/votesendinthedogs This woman was a clerk at Poor Richards Variety Store. As an aside, if you are ever in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, Richard's is an interesting place. She had sold out of her political buttons and had come outside to join in the fun. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/votevillagelostidiot In every crowd you have to have a jester, and this time was no exception. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/votewwcd Last, in any gathering in the south you will find a group of mature women. You may recall the movie, "Steel Magnolia's". These women, in a gentile, polite manner will nail you to the wall and you will thank them afterward for the honor. Ask Sonny what happens when you cross one of them, you might be in debt to SWAMBO for the rest of your life if she can pull you from their jaws. http://gallery.leica-users.org/album29/votesteelmagnolia Comments are always welcome. I hope you enjoyed the tour. Don dorysrus@mindspring.com
