For those of us who use AOL as an ISP  (please no comments on that)  I found 
the way to email in plain text from within their mail client.  After you 
open 
a new message, just right click ( in Windoze; No comments about that either, 
please) and at the bottom of the menu box is a choice: Compose as Plain 
text.   

Now you don't have to go to another client to email the list, and keep your 
urls clean.  Of course, they are not presented as linkable, but at least 
they 
don't have the annoying underline characters.
