Subject: [Leica] Lens Quality (Not Faith)

I got into Leica (R) because of two things--the bright and easy on my eyes
viewfinder of the R8, and the (reputed) quality of the lenses. My main
concern was a lens that was optimized for quality all over the image rather
than peak quality in the center and rapid falloff toward the edges and
corners. These are, still, fairly distinctive features--although Zeiss does
the latter quite explicitly (as for Hasselblad).

Now, as in high end audio, some demands are specialist demands. You can buy
high power "receivers" with all sorts of features (maybe it even makes
coffee), but if you want quality stats all the way through the frequency
range, you end up buying a separate amp which has perhaps one or two
switches.
