It's the kind and benevolent dictator thing, I'm afraid. I love Marc's line about letting the people sort out their problems. Well, just how they do that? ...they construct elaborate social structures to formalise acceptable behaviour and objectives for the good of THE PEOPLE! ...it is the institutionalized structure of governance of how we live with each other ...and sort out our problems. ...and here is the final shocker to the conservative and the anarchist. Government is a socialist concept. People forming groups to work together and manage common resources for the good of the group as a whole. It's not a right wing or business concept. How can a conservative (or anarchist) want to form a government if it doesn't believe in government. Everybody get that? All that said Marc, I was really impressed with what you said in a earlier post about every loser deserving proper representation in court under the law. (a governance institution formed by THE PEOPLE) I once asked a famous Canadian trial lawyer (and Jewish) why he defended Ernst Zundel (a neo-nazi and holocaust denier) and he said. "I'm not defending his actions or beliefs. I'm just here to ensure that he gets the fair trial he is entitled to under our laws and judicial system." I asked Mr. Zundel how he could hire a Jew after what he publicly stated and printed about the Jews. He said, "Mr. Greenspan is the best trail lawyer in the country". (Which settled it for me that all ideology is BS) Thanks for reminding me why we actually have courts and trials. ...because, without it there would be anarchy Greg Locke St. John's, Newfoundland http://blog.greglocke.com >
