On American domestic flights, you can carry lighters and matches.  As 
Mr. Moore says, you wouldn't want to deny people the right to light 
up as soon as they get off!  It's a good thing that the shoe-bomber 
wasn't flying domestic. :-)

p.s. Who uses a gas hair curler any more? The new rechargeable 
electrics are much better.
