It seemed he had good connections at Leitz and Leica. Doug Herr Birdman of Sacramento http://www.wildlightphoto.com -----Original Message----- From: "B. D. And you know damn well that Canon and Nikon lose far more sales when there are cheaper lenses being offered than they will lose at the high end. After all, while some people think that Leica glass blows away all else, there are other professional photographers who either can't see the difference between top Nikon, Canon, and Leica glass, or don't think whatever difference there is is worth the money.;-) -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Douglas Herr Sent: Monday, October 25, 2004 12:21 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: RE: [Leica] Interview on Zeiss Ikon "B. According to the late Sal DiMarco, not only did Leica think of this, they approached both Nikon and Canon and were rejected by both. It makes sense... why would Canon or Nikon want competition for their high-end (and high-profit) lenses?
