HCB = Herbert C Brown. Very recently passed away. Won a nobel prize for his
work with Boron. 

Oh wait, there was a Frenchman....  ; - ) 
They say he used a Leica. 

If you are worried about ghosts, you might pick up a copy of Fortean Times.
They might be able to explain things.
