Sam offered us this observation -

"the substitution 
of animal companionship for human companionship is at best harmlessly 
odd, and at worst immoral."

That someone prefers the companionship of fellow human beings to that of
animals doesn't make one superior, or any less 'odd,' than those who
prefer the companionship of animals. And to suggest that preferring
human companionship to that of animals is somehow "immoral" is, at best,
extremely odd.
