Alternatively, for several years I have been taking numerous
"unauthorised" photographs in shopping centres (our version
of "malls") without problems.  Egs.

Bzzzt.  Wrong.

I can tell you from years of experience that this is exactly the
wrong thing to do.  Fiddling and fumbling with your camera
in a "mall" is just guaranteed to attract rent-a-cops.

Frame the shot with your eyes, quickly take it, move on.

Common sense really :?)
