Much as I loved the Hornblower books when I was between about 10 and 13, it's really quite sacrilegious to mention Hornblower in the same breath as Aubrey/Maturin. The former is, when all is said and done, a series of yarns for boys; later is accessible literature. :-) ----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Marc James Small Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 7:28 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Campaign stops in the SE At 08:34 PM 8/1/04 -0700, Adam Bridge wrote: >The "Aubry/Maturin" novels form a long series - maybe 18 books??? - of >sea stories. They are exceptionally well written. Patrick reached 20 books by the date of his death. The 21st book, in progress at that time, may be released in some form some day. I would suggest that they do the same with his work as was intelligently done with Forester's final HORNBLOWER novel.
