It's a shame, because in the long run, you end up wasting less time (and therefore money) on solving computer problems and more time getting things done. Tina has probably already spent more than the cost of a switch in lost productivity, frustration, service costs, etc. My own frustration with Windows is increasing, as I have come to rely more and more on Spotlight in OSX. My whole notion of organizing is changing as a result of this single feature! Windows is looking more and more dowdy all the time and Vista will not ship for at least 18 months. In the meantime, OSX is racing ahead. The other day, a friend of mine from Germany told me: "We have a saying in Germany...we are too poor to buy cheap things" I always try to avoid false economy. --Jim Laurel -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+jplaurel=spectare.com@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+jplaurel=spectare.com@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Tina Manley Sent: Tuesday, July 26, 2005 3:54 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Computer help!!! I've investigating switching and, in spite of what everybody says about how compatible the two systems are, the cost to switch would be very prohibitive to me. I just can't do it. My Nikon LS 5000 scanner, Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Breezebrowser and almost every software program and hardware application that I use would involve lots of expensive changes if I switched to Macs. The Geek Squad guy assured me that there is no reason to switch to a Mac now. He may have a vested interest in repairing PC's, but I truly can't afford to switch now.
