With that thought I believe you would be better off with one of the new VC 35mm lenses. If you desire to shoot vintage then the late Canon 35mm F2 or F1.8 are quite good lenses but will set you back around $400 unless you get lucky. If you can live with 2.8 then there are a whole lot of interesting lenses available. Start with the Soviet 35mm F2.8 Biogon clones at less than $100; make sure that you have return priveledges as they can be variable in quality. The Canon 35 Serenars are also of pretty high quality and can be had around $200 although the 34mm filter size is somewhat of a bother. At the mid to high $200 range you can find 35 Summarons that are quite sharp and cheap in the 3.5 variant.
