They did cost more than the generic uncle Mao boards but boy were they reliable! I think super micro is still making boards. Haven't built a machine in years but I take pleasure in surrounding myself with HPs. I still have a few old Netserver LMs and a maxed out LH Pro 200/1mb with 1gb and 6 hot swap 18gb drives. I don't think I could bear to part with it! These are from back in the day when HP used only the finest ingredients in their boxes, and boy were those chassis rigid! I have maintained an HP only policy in the house except for laptops. My main work station is an HP Pavillion a210y. It's certainly not high end netserver quality but it's a nicely built machine by today's standards. I only hope Dell doesn't manage to wipe out HP as well.
