Subject: [Leica] Elelmentary B+W tech question--follow up question

There was a recent thread on the Leica web site forum where an
individual was telling us that it was impossible to scan silver b&w
because he'd read about it in the internet - oh and his mate Gary had
tried to scan a roll of HP5 and got poor results. Apparently silver
scans are always 'horribly contrasty'! Despite several of us saying that
this wasn't the case and producing evidence to the contrary he would
only modify his opinion from 'all scanners are rubbish' to 'most
scanners are rubbish'.

An educated chap - he had a PhD - but a very closed mind.

Steve

Yes, again, definitely. All my recent B&W show prints that have sold
have been scanned from 35mm or 120 negatives, processed in Photoshop,
and printed on either an Epson 1280 or R800.
