In 2002, in Thailand, I accidentally dropped my R5 w/24mm which landed lens side down. From the exterior, I was lucky and only dented the filter ring. The truth of the matter was that the mirror box was compressed... the entire casting had bent and the camera was a complete write-off. Absolutely unrepairable, even by Leica. The camera worked fine and not knowing that it was damaged, I continued to use it. When I got home, I discovered that photos after that time were mostly a bit 'soft'. If shot at f5.6 or smaller, the DOF seemed to cover the discrepancy, but shots made at f4 or wider were a problem. Fortunately, I had all risk, no deductible, insurance! I hope you have the same! Good luck! David. ------------------------ Rick Dykstra wrote (in part): >"Was that my camera bag?" >"Yes." > >Fortunately (?) it landed on the lens and the only visible damage was >to the hood.
