 From what I have learned from my zen-buddhist-minded Karate-Do 
sensei in the past 25 years, is that perfection can not be reached 
during one's life but if, then only after the death; as the death is 
an integral part of the life. So maybe these japanese painters just 
want to live a bit longer?...
