I will scan and then use iView to catalogue. In trying to get the logistics straight I cannot seem to see my way out of the trees. I begin with a scan, or any other form of file, then I had thought my solution was to dump them all in a folder on my external HD and using iView catalogue them. But, after I dump them in the folder how do I know which have been cataloged and which not? If I just dive into my folder the files will be random, and I see no way to tell which to run through iVew. If anyone sees my problem and has a thought please let me know. Michael Against stupidity the Gods themselves struggle in vain. /Schiller/ On Sep 16, 2005, at 12:54 AM, feli wrote: > > On Sep 16, 2005, at 12:06 AM, Daniel Ridings wrote: > > >> On 9/16/05, feli <feli2@earthlink.net> wrote: >> >> >>> I realize this is a big subject, but can anyone give me an >>> insight in >>> to how they >>> log and keep track of their negatives? >>> >>> >> >> Not a whole lot ... this is how it looks at this very moment. >> >> http://www.dlridings.com/temp/DSC_2883.jpg >> http://www.dlridings.com/temp/DSC_2884.jpg >> > > Hmm, looks familiar... > ;-) > > > > >> I number rolls sequentially, by binder: 10.1 10.2 10.3 etc. Binder >> 10, >> roll 1 2 3 >> Each sheet is marked with year and week (2005 v37 for this week) >> Notes are jotted on the paper part of the negative sheets. >> I always carry a little pocket notebook where I write notes, keyed to >> the roll number. >> Scans are named by year, week and then sequentially.
