I think you're right, cropping #4 has already been suggested by quite a few other people. I did this crop on the posted jpeg just to see what it looks like, then I removed a bit of blue from the whole image. http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3269_edited_2_edited_2 I think this may be the best version now, it was my favourite from the start because of the angles of the wing and tail feathers and the position of his head.
