But that doesn't have anything to do with digital, it's the shutter
assembly. Presumably the film body that it's based on (N80?) would
have similar wear problems.

One could say that digital is great, since you took enough photos to
kill your camera. I read somewhere that the D100 is rated for 30k
cycles and the D70 for 40k (or something like that) - that's a lot of
'rolls' to put through a consumer-level camera.
