I find it in XTOL 1:3 to be a very good medium for very diffuse window light portraiture. Probably the best portrait I've ever done was in Tri X @ 1600. It's hanging on my portrait wall and never fails to draw comments for the tonality. Yes, there is grain, but I knew there was going to be - I WANTED the grain. It has a look I can't achieve shooting digital, even using noise which doesn't have the same effect by FAR. Ted sure has made a living pushing it at least one stop for much of his work.
