I once acquired an SL thinking I'd get a 50/2 and be done with it. Hah! Fat chance. My favorite R lens is the 28/2.8 Elmarit. The one I owned (and never should have sold) performed magically. I've always felt like wide angle lenses and rangefinders were a perfect match. However, ttl viewing has it's advantages. Things are seen as they are (especially through a splendid R finder). Sometimes that's critical when using a WA. I sold my R, btw, because I had a nearly identical Contax SLR system. I also had a ttl flash setup for the Contax. My German made 25/2.8 Distagon AE fine as it is, doesn't quite carve an image like my 28/2.8 Elmarit did. My R7 was my all-time favorite SLR body, followed by a Nikon F3 HP. The R8 might even be better. It arrived today and it is lovely. Bigole hoss of a camera. I have only a 90mm summicron right now, but hope to make trades and get a few more R lenses. Watch for results!
