There's only one way to find out...

Although I suspect getting a good hole in the tape might not be so easy...I 
think I'd try punching a pinhole in a piece of foil and then taping that in 
place...it would be hard to change lenses, though, so unless you have a 
spare Leica to dedicate to this, I think body caps might be the way to go.
