The one problem with the kit lenses is that they're slow - and they are definitely not as good as the "pro" Olympus DSLR lenses. The E-500 is a nice little DSLR = very light and compact. It's not built anywhere as solidly as the E-1, which is a tank, but it's still pretty good. It is better than the E-300, but...the new processor, in the E-330, which just came out, is definitely better at high isos than anything Olympus has had to this point. If you're not bothered by the slow lenses, $800 for a body and two lenses is probably a pretty good deal. Be aware, however, that the viewfinder is fairly small, although it is sufficient. I hope this helps. Best B. D.
