Deer are an epidemic problem now in many parts of the country, as Don observed. There are more deer in Wisconsin and Minnesota than at any other time - conditions are perfect for them. I'm sure it's a problem in New England as well. And, of course, there are zillions in California. I also think there has been a huge increase in raccoons although I've never seen any statistics to back this up. When I was growing up in Ohio in the 50s and 60s the most common road-kill was your basic opposum. Now when I go back there it's raccoons. I even see more of them in California than I used to - maybe they are thriving in the suburban environment? Personally the idea of someone hunting anything with a firearm in the urban landscape scares the hell out of me. The bow hunters have always seemed more serious in their craft. As to hunting people...the joys of Darwinism in society can be taken up in a different forum.
