It may be that the reduced silver translates to reduced staining. FP4 seems to be the middle speed film of choice. Unfortunately for me, I ordered $250 of it last week and FedEx Ground delivered it to the wrong location. I guess I'll use of some of my old HP5 in the meantime. Slobodan has pointed out on another list something we should all take to heart. The latitude of modern films is such that this 1/2 stop, one stop here or there really doesn't make a lot of difference. I kind of pride myself on my technique, but I noted something yesterday that put me in place. I had mistakenly taken a few frames of Delta 100 as if it was Tri-X rated at 500/640. I discovered my mistake and just finished off the roll normally and processed it normally, expecting to lose the underexposed frames. I was just testing anyway, so it didn't matter. http://dlridings.se/blog/?p=15 Not perfect, of course, but I think a lot of my success should simply be credited the high quality of modern films.
