Subject: [Leica] What do real patriots do?

It would probably surprise many people to know how often they are
photographed in a given day by video cameras which are hidden, or at the
very least inconspicuous.

I don't' really see a difference -- in terms of privacy or invasion
thereof -- between being photographed by a still camera or a video
camera. The only real difference is that a video camera adds ten lbs.

Privacy in public places is not a reality.

The answer is to wear a photo-vest. Then everybody assumes that you
are working for the local newspaper instead of being the local
pervert. Then they all want their picture in the paper and want to
be sure that their name is spelled right. Add a PRESS pass either
pinned to the pocket or hanging around your neck. It could be a
press pass for "Walt's News International" but be sure your photo is
on there. ;-)

I showed up at a local church last Sunday to photograph the children
putting flowers on the cross and some woman took it upon herself to
deny me entrance to the church until I could prove that I had
permission. Since I have been working here 20 years and she was new,
about 40 people came running up to assure her that I was
legitimate. The world has gone nuts! I'm ready to retire to Mongolia.
