As I have just said to Don, I find that the old lenses have a magic
impact... something special. My first experience with Leica was with a IIIF
with a Summitar, I've immediately sold my Pentax outfit and buyed a Leica
R3, but the modern Summicron was not the same as the old Summitar, everyone
has his own advantages, qualities and maybe weak points.

Asunto: [Leica] 50 mm lenses
Dear LUG,
The recent discussion of what was the best 50 mm lens almost
prompted to
comment that I thought that the 50 ASPH Summulux was the best and that
since I bought it my 50 Summicron, 4th, has sat on the shelf. This
contented state was compromised when I wandered into a used camera shop and
saw a screw mount collapsible Summicron. If the truth is known, I have
lusted for one for 50 years. You can guess, I bought it. The attached
photo is one of the first trials. It was on a IIIf. It was shot in a
hanger as you might guess. So far I am delighted and my wife only said
that's nice.
